Karen Youth Organisation works for the development of Karen youths. We provide training and support for Karens in Burma and Thailand and assist them in their struggle for freedom and democracy in Burma.

Mutraw District
From 2006 to 2009 most of the youth had to stop their training and education activities due to the SPDC offensive in Mutraw district. Also their families faced food security problems from constant displacement, so many students did not get enough food to eat. In this period 12 youths were shot dead by SPDC soldiers.
Objectives

The youth ability about politics will improve.

Executive Committee members in Mutraw district try to find opportunities for the youth to get higher education.

Try to find the way for the Karen CBOs, especially KYO Central, to come and give training in Mutraw district.
To achieve our objectives we collect the students who live far from school and have made a hostel for them to attend and finish school. We have a boys dormitory and a girls dormitory; altogether 26 students.
