Introduction

Community Organising is an ongoing project inside Karen State, Burma. Over 200 people have been trained in Community Organising techniques since 2002.

Aim

Organize, empower and educate the people at grass roots level they can think critically, plan systematically, and act effectively to resist military oppressions and establish a place of justice and peace.

We also maintain open dialogue with youths inside Karen State and collect information about their lives and human rights abuses.

Objectives

1. Develop new community organizers who can establish new community organizing centers in each district and camp.

Tasks

Identify people from different areas of districts and camps with strong potential as community organizers and provide them with training in:

2. Establish sub-centers both inside and outside from which community organizing activities can be initiated and expanded to other areas in Karen State.

Tasks

Through political, economic and social analysis, identify crucial areas in Karen State where community organizing is both necessary and possible.

Set up the appropriate organizing team and provide them with training in skills they need to carry out the organizing works

Create a detailed fact-finding process, which can gather sufficient community social data to create a community-organizing plan for the areas.
