Karen Youth Organisation works for the development of Karen youths. We provide training and support for Karens in Burma and Thailand and assist them in their struggle for freedom and democracy in Burma.
 
 
 

Sports

KYO organises sports activities for youths in the refugee camps, IDP camps and in villages inside Karen State. Sport brings youths together, gives them an opportunity to make relationships with each other and nurtures physical development and team working skills. Our sports activities are very popular with both male and female youths.

KYO is working with Karen National Sport Association (KNSA).When KNSA do the training they invite KYO to attnd the training. They also distribute the Sport equipment to each district.

KNSA Aims

Developing the standard and accessibility of sport and physical education in order to provide opportunities for children to develop their physical and social skills, improve the standard of sports and assist the community with relationship building.

Objectives

  • To train at least 45 youth workers and teachers in IDP areas and refugee camps about physical education and games to play with children in their respective societies
  • Creating opportunities for children and youth to learn about physical education through games and sport activities.
  • To have at least 10 active football trainers for IDP schools in Karen State.
  • To distribute games, volleyball and football coaching guide books for local people to educate their children and raise their awareness and support of KNSA activities.
  • To promote understanding, team building and relationship building between Karen people from different areas and backgrounds
  • To create a studying process and learning experience for KNSA leadership to promote better management skills.
